I am about to start work, but I thought you might like to have morning coffee with me a chat a bit. It has been super busy around here with my other job. I have been working a lot – no complaints. I need the money for the airstream, but I am tired…very tired. I haven’t shot that much in a couple weeks, I keep waiting for things to bloom, yet it just hasn’t happened yet. Now, today it is super cold and I have a very busy day of writing ahead of me.
I need a little advice. I am opening two different Etsy shops. One with my dog projects – going to be awesome, no one else has what I am making on there! And one non- dog stuff. Question is…I don’t have a logo for my banners and such. i feel all these things are important. First impression is everything. I found someone on etsy that creates them and she does an amazing job. Should I just put together a couple cute banners until my shop gets going or go ahead and invest before? I can’t decide. I am still working on the items that will go in the etsy shops, so it will be a little while. This is my dream to be self employed and to make money from my art.
Well, I hope you all enjoy your day and thank you for having coffee with me. It is so nice to have friends to chat with. It gets lonely up here and the kids are too lazy right now to talk to me.
I saw this quote here:
Dorothea Lange : While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see.
P.S. I want to leave you with this little short that my friend Jf wrote yesterday. Very inspiring and true.
yes, true story: was out today cleaning up sh*t when Clydes came to get me and brought me to a visitor to the yard. This 110 pound ominous looking but gentle dog led me to a baby hawk sitting -coherently- but with its neck craned back, beak up. unreal looking little bugger, cute, calm, eyes opened. but could not even look at Clydes -or myself- as he went to sniff him. neck craned back, beak up. Clydes and I went and gathered a box for our guest as I was trying to figure which of our vets owed me a favor. dog literate and bird ignorant I was assessing, it’s legs and wings looked fine so I figured -based on its positioning- it had somehow injured its neck, so I needed to be mindful when transferring. returning with box, the little dude had not moved, head back, beak up. I spoke to it and looked directly into its eyes as I went to pick it up…they were trained upward still with such focus and as my hand gently closed, it let out such a deliberate cry that I actually followed the direction of it eyes up over the house and there -not nearly far enough away- circling overhead were a pair of large protective parents. came their reply to its cry and it was l-o-u-d. “Oh,” I said to myself out loud, “okay.” with that I placed him in the box and then on top the nearby table and we stood back under the shade of towering bamboo. a minute. two. more back and forth communication and as the parents got closer the little dude lifted, took flight and joined them. We watched….they left. I went back to said sh*t scooping and it was until later, that the very simple moral from this encounter hit me: When lost…..keep your eyes focused on what you know…and what you trust.
easy solid logic…and not just for the birds.

I like Goodbear’s dog feet idea. I already love your Wordpress logo with dog legs and human legs.
yes, i think you could have a great banner of just one of your photos cropped for the mutts and such. you could do that with dog feet.
and for oh little darlings maybe a crafty collage of photos with the elements you like.
Airstream??????
Make your own banner for now to save a few bucks. I can’t wait to see your dog products!!! 🙂
Yah! Me, the boy and six dogs living in an airstream being gypsies! sounds fun, eh!
Looks like me making my own banner wins. You guys are awesome!
hello there. i’m having my morning coke…with lots of ice.
i can’t drink coffee before lunch. too hard on the stomach.
i, too, am very excited for your etsy shops!
i also think you should save the money and wait.
what do you want your banners to convey?
do you have photoshop?
yah, I was just saying my stomach hates me right now. ARG!
I do have photoshop. My dog shop is called Mutts & Such… (top secret what is in it, but several different items) my non-dog shop is called Oh Little Darlins’ it will have lots of photo stuff among other stuff I make. So excited! It is slowly coming together. SLOWLY. EEK!
what they convey…EEK! I dunno. Oh little darlins’ maybe a girl with tattoos with a camera and scissors on her belt with a dog by her side?
mutts and such… – no idea. was just thinking a bunch of dog feet with a pair of human feet. and then font and…and ….
I am not a logo person.
Good morning. I am having English Breakfast, but I am normally a coffee drinker. 😉
I can’t wait to see your Etsy offerings. My 2 cents is to wait until you’ve sold a few things in order to design and purchase your banner. Knowing you, I think you can do some renegade marketing tactics when you open and the banners won’t be necessary at first.
Let me know when you are up and running and I’ll put your Etsy logo link on my page.
Thanks for chatting. Beso!
Thanks Still Life! I love having friends that share advice. Yes! I hope people like my shops. I am looking forward to it, I just have to get busy!! 🙂 Oh! I just pulled out my french press. I am loving it but I think I put too much coffee in. My stomach hates me right now and I feel like I am on speed. Maybe I should switch to tea. hehe!
