rainy days.

I have been missing my friends like crazy the last few days. Really I only have two that I really talk to about anything and it doesn’t matter how long it is between talks – it is like time never passed. We all met in LA (10+yrs ago) and caused trouble all the time. It was great. I miss them. I think the rainy days make the memories a little more vivid and the missing a little more real. Long time friends are rare these days. Love them if you have them.

It is kind of funny now that none of us live there anymore. I actually moved to Las Vegas with one of them and Portland with the other. So, I got to see their lives set up for awhile – and that does make it better – knowing they are good and happy! Man, I love them.

Pirate wednesday
I have been working like crazy cutting little animals for totem rings. The craft fairs are coming up in March and I want to have a bazillion things ready. I am ready for this… all of it. Something lit a fire under my ass the other day and I can’t stop creating or thinking about creating, writing, taking photos – whatever makes the flame burn brighter – there are sparks happening over here. Thank goodness.

I am sending you some flowers today in this dreary winter weather.  I am very much looking forward to the weekend. I will probably venture out to see some music, also making some herbal energy balls for my friends weekly treats (Thanks Mandy!), my date with the river, cutting a million more totem pieces and of course, walks and cuddles with the pups.
Have an amazing day, friends.

Call to the wild

by canyon critter on January 9, 2013

Raven has been visiting me. I remember living in L.A and I would always find her feathers. It made me feel safe and that everything would be ok. She brings me magic. Ravens are birds of mysticism and magic, birth and death. They have a similar reputation to a coyote, which is both the trickster and the wise one, but the raven bringing forth life and order – of course, first one must get past all the evil lore about them. They say ravens stole the sunlight from the one who would keep the world in darkness. In blackness, everything mingles until drawn forth, out into the light. She is supposed to help me stir the magic of life without fear and reflect the strong creative life force within. I am ready for a little magic and shape shifting.
I know she is helping me organize my thoughts into the light.

Who is helping you this week?

“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
call to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.”
