Nomads in Asheville

by canyon critter on May 4, 2015

My friend beth, her boyfriend and dog Alfredo stopped in Asheville last night.

They left their life here in Asheville a while back to travel in their camper and now they are heading west.

They have a great blog that you can read about their travels and experiences here. It was exciting to see them and the weather was fantastic by the river.

I am so excited they are brave enough to do this. I can’t wait until my time comes to leave…

The world is calling 😀

Sunday Adventure

by canyon critter on March 30, 2015

This was my sunday adventure… really only a little bit of it – I have many more photos to edit. My friend Waverly is an amazing aerialist and so we took some photos for

fun in the extreme cold at the very top of the mountain – not any silk flying just some yoga poses this time – next time I will get her flying from some trees but today was called polar yoga.

My hands were so frozen and wrinkly they looked like sad raisins by the end.

So my goal is to take a few hours – one day a week to adventure. I have such anxiety leaving the house and dogs because I always

have so much to do, but I feel it necessary for sanity. I am hoping to relax quicker into the adventure and know that work

can wait and the dogs have been walked. That is the one regret of many places that I have lived is that I didn’t adventure enough and take

advantage of the offerings of nature in places.

I want to live richly and using all my senses, but don’t we all?

So if you have instagram or not check out my friend waverly’s page and my friend Lisa. Both such amazing artists.

“May we have the courage to take the step
Into the unknown that beckons us;
Trust that a richer life awaits us there,
That we will lose nothing
But what has already died;
Feel the deeper knowing in us sure
Of all that is about to be born beyond
The pale frames where we stayed confined,
Not realizing how such vacant endurance
Was bleaching our soul’s desire.”

Ice cream and wine

by canyon critter on May 9, 2014

This week has been filled to the brim. I have been holding off on blogging because I wanted to change the name of this blog to Gypsy Wolf & Willow, but I am having some difficulty, so alas… I am giving in and posting until I can figure it out – but don’t worry, it will happen!

My nights have been filled by the moon lately. I can’t sleep at all, so much happening and so many ideas and not enough time. No complaints, especially when your moon sisters are up to chat with you. This last Monday, I spent the day frolicking in the forest with my friend little darling. She is enchanting and I love her fiercely. It is crazy the connection you can have with some people so quickly. She feels so deep and strong like I do and loves animals just as crazy.

The next night we went to eat at our most favorite restaurant. Not many places you can come in and get such huge smiles from the staff and hugs from the owner. What?! yah, big hugs. Such a nice entrance to an amazing dinner. We ended up just getting tons of  yummy vegan appetizers, wine and ice cream.

So I am telling you that you MUST without question go eat at Plant in Asheville and add their FB page and say hello.

Seriously.

Little Darling and I will be there every week eating ice cream and drinking wine.

So now that I am looking at all these food photos, I will seriously probably dream of kale and ice cream.

Yes. A love story of Kale.

Until tomorrow.

Be Free.

Be Wild.

Dream of ice cream.

Monday

by canyon critter on April 14, 2014

It is grey and rainy today. A perfect day to stay home, cuddle and watch movies. Doesn’t that sound amazing?  Except, there is no time today for movies. ha.

My mind is still quiet from lack of coffee this morning, I started a job during the week and now do photoshoots and metalwork on weekends, so I am trying to find that delicate routine schedule balance and not feel exhausted… yet, I feel exhausted. So I am trying to figure out an exercise and eating schedule that will help with more energy and get the dogs out more. Sometimes in the midst of busy you have to find your calm and realize there is an end goal in site. The dream is worth it. Push through. The universe will guide you and give you strength.
Happy Monday, birds.

Weekend Adventure.

Sometimes transitions can be rough even coming out of winter. Shedding our hibernation skin and blossoming under the sun like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly can rub a little rough sometimes. I have been feeling it a little, for sure. I have also been very determined to make this spring be one of adventure and stories.

So my friend little darling and I grabbed some coffee and off we went on a little adventure to find my first waterfall. Luckily, Asheville is surrounded by beauty and we only had to drive about 45 minutes before reaching DuPont State Forest… you know, where some of Hunger Games was filmed. oh yeah. that…

The weather was gorgeous and we even saw an older couple get married in camo attire there. We also saw a bunch of kids climbing on rocks like monkey’s which almost gave me a heart attack. oy!

We saw so many weird people and cool things. It definitely helped to get out of “town” for the day to refuel our spirits. Nature is magic.

these are some iPhone photos from the day…

of course, to end my evening… I stopped by to see my friend Jeri and we went and got some pizza.

I was so excited this place had vegan pizza from a fire brick oven and it was so yummy!image
